Annie Lee McLaurin. Behind Those Walls. Fine and Compressed Charcoal on Canvas. July 2014. While creating this Self-Portrait, I pushed myself. Since I usually work small and detailed, I chose to work large with charcoal as well as focusing on perspective to help "draw" the viewer in.

While studying abroad in the small town of Spoleto, I was given the task to "Recreate my Experience". During long hour drives through Italy, we passed dozens of sunflower fields that made me smile each time we drove by.

For my Mid-Term I created a portrait of myself using the theme soul and body. I used colored pencil to draw myself and my background is newsprint dipped in coffee.
